BIHAR ANNOUNCES SUBSIDY FOR EV BUYERS, ONLINE APPLICATION STARTS; CHECK DETAILS

State Bureau, Patna: The Bihar government has taken a significant initiative, the Chief Minister Bihar Environment-Friendly Transport Employment Scheme, to promote environmentally friendly vehicles. Following the approval of the Bihar Electric Vehicles (Amendment) Policy, 2026, the government has now initiated the process of providing subsidies to citizens purchasing new electric vehicles (EVs).

According to the Transport Department, a special link has been released on the department's official government website, through which eligible beneficiaries can easily apply for the subsidy.

Subsidy for vehicles bought after May 15

The Transport Department has clarified that the said subsidy will only be available on EVs purchased on or after May 15, 2026. Vehicles bought before the cut-off date would not be entertained for subsidy.

Buyers need to follow the online application process

Citizens who bought an EV on or after May 15 can visit the official website of the transport department.

• Click on the special link for availing subsidy
• EV owners will have to enter their details.
• The details include: district name, vehicle registration number (RC), engine number, chassis number, date of purchase, PAN card number, bank account details, and other required documents.
• Once filled, the vehicle owners can submit their application.

Post-application process

Following the completion of the application, incentives for two-wheeled, three-wheeled (commercial), and four-wheeled electric vehicles will be approved and released under the Chief Minister Bihar Environment-Friendly Transport Employment Scheme.

This government scheme will mostly benefit citizens who prefer EVs over petrol bikes.
